Guestbook Alternatives

There are so many creative options for keeping a record of your wedding guests. This fun tradition has lingered long after guests are no longer legally required to sign the marriage document, but there's no reason we can't mix it up a little.

Here are my favorite guestbook alternatives:

1. Jenga Guestbook -Each person signs a Jenga block and the bride and groom play every year on their anniversary. I LOVE it!

2. Thumbprint Guestbook -There are different variations on this idea, but everyone inks their thumb and adds it to a canvas. I would still want a traditional guestbook alongside to capture individuals' names.

Available in Bleu de Toi's shop on Etsy

Available in Dana Bellis' shop on Etsy

3. Vintage Typewriter Guestbook -Each guest types a message to the bride and groom with a vintage typewriter. This goes very well with vintage and Anthropologie style weddings.

4. Canvas Guestbooks -There are many options for guests to sign a canvas to hang in your home. I recently ran across this canvas and love it's unique design!

Available in Cottage Creek Arts' shop on Etsy

5. Coffee Table Book Guestbook -There are a plethora of great coffee table books full of beautiful photography. Choose one of your favorites and have your guests sign the white space around the photos. Then you can leave it on your coffee table and when you glance through it you will be reminded of the wonderful celebration. (Barnes & Noble's bargain section always has a lot of great photography books on the cheap!)

Happy Planning!

Succulents

Succulents are incredibly hearty plants to decorate with for a wedding. They require quite a bit of water, but can go without for a good amount of time and can be used after the wedding for decoration. Here are some fantastic examples:

Yellow. The Color of Summer.

My mother's wedding took place in July 1968. Her mother wore yellow and I've always adored this picture of them together just before she walked down the aisle in what I would say is great 60's style. Yellow has always been a great color for summer.

This is the first picture of my mother and father as a married couple. Since I'm posting a picture of their wedding, I couldn't help but post this one as well. They will be married 42 years in July. It's quite incredible, and I'm so proud of them.

Now on to the goods. I've scrounged up my favorite yellow wedding finds for your wedding day. Yellow is such a happy color and is full of life. These items will surely bring life to your big day.

Think outside the box! Hang this in the background for your ceremony or your cake.

Two precious (and yellow) flower girl dresses!

Sweet Lily Designs

I ran across Sweet Lily Designs while digging for treasure on Etsy. Isn't that what it' like?!? You start looking for something specific and by the time you're done searching you've found a dozen things you must have. What's shops are on your must have list? This shop full of frames is inching towards the top of mine!

The 4x4 frames are the perfect size for table numbers.

The 5X7 frames are a great addition to a table of engagement photos as your guests sign in at the ceremony or to a table of family heirloom photos you want to share at your reception.

The monogrammed initial frame would be great on a cake table that also boasts your new initial.

Explore how you could use decorations like this at your wedding and then use them in your home. Double duty purposes can save you a little cash!

Happy Planning,

Stephanie

Spring Programs

I was digging through some old files (as always...trying to make room for more) and found this program from one of my May 2009 weddings. It totally got me in the mood to think about spring weddings. Yay! If you have a wedding coming up and haven't nailed down what you want for your program, I hope these ideas inspire you.
